What are the regulations on prenatal leave for female employees in China?

  1. If a female employee is pregnant for more than 7 months, she shall be given 1-hour break every day, paid according to the normal working treatment, and shall not arrange night shift work.
  2. If a female employee is pregnant for more than 7 months and has a work permit, she can apply for prenatal leave for 2.5 months with the approval of the company. If it is proved by a medical and health care institution at or above the second level that there is a history of habitual abortion, serious pregnancy syndrome, pregnancy complications, etc., which may affect normal childbirth, the employee shall file an application, and the employer shall approve its prenatal leave of two and a half months. The salary during prenatal leave shall be paid by 80% of salary as normal attendance.
