A representative office (RO) is the most simple type of entity to set up in China, however is limited to non-profit activities. ROs cannot issue invoices/transactions and pay taxes on expenses instead. Staff must also be employed via a service provider.

A joint venture (JV) is a company with a mix of foreign and Chinese shareholders.
